The Amazing Lace: Challenge #4

Your question: If you bound off your lace RIGHT NOW - what could it be used for?

Well since my Clapotis is finished err. . . . . . my team-mate has quit on me. I have already cast off.

What could it be used for?

Meet Freddie!

Acer palmatum dissectum 'Crimson Queen'

Acer palmatum dissectum 'Crimson Queen' or Cutleaf Japanese Maple. I have always wanted one & I had to wait 18 years for him! Also when I won a gift certificate to a wholesale nursery, I informed DH that the gift certificate was going towards a Cutleaf Japanese Maple.

After waiting 18 years for this tree, I told DD he HAD to have a name & said there was NO WAY I was going to call him 'Queen' as the variety is 'Crimson Queen'. Besides it definitely did not suit him.
DD: (with a twinkle in her eye) said why not 'Freddie'
Me: Why on earth would I call him 'Freddie'?
DD: (she only had to say 2 words) 'Freddie Mercury'
She had been listening to DH's CD entitled "Queen's Greatest Hits"
Me: Laughing I said Absolutely purrrrrfect!!!

& that's how he got his name.

He is definitely "the Love of my Life" & I am NOT a gardener!!
DH can attest to that!!

Stashalong: July Challenge

1) Choose 1 or 2 WIP's (or more if you have a lot of time on your hands) that you can reasonably finish by the end of the month.

2) Post a BEFORE picture of your progress so far between July 1-4

3) At the end of the month EDIT the "BEFORE" post with your AFTER picture. Your AFTER pictures need to be posted by August 2.

4) Upon completion choose a reward (is there something you really want or is the FO a reward in itself)

The WIP's that I have chosen for this challenge are both Irish!

Irish Cables Bag

Irish Hiking Scarf

The Amazing Lace: Clapotis is Finished!!

My Amazing Lace project er... team-mate has quit on me & this is only the beginning of July.

I am going to have to find another team-mate. I may have to start another Clapotis. I absolutely love this pattern. I have not blocked it yet. I am not sure whether I want to block it as I like how it rolls. It is more of a shawl than a scarf. It was made with Patons Decor 'Pale Taupe Heather'.

I wore it on Sunday at church. The AC is soooooo cold that I felt that I was walking into a walk in freezer. Brrrrrrr!!! Never took it off all service!! I love it.

Not sure who my next team-mate for the Amazing Lace will be!!

Pictures of Finished Projects!

The One-Skein Hooded Baby Sweater. It is really fast to knit up & does not have much sewing up. A very lovely gift.

The Multidirectional Triangle Scarf is a very interesting concept. You knit in different directions without casting off or picking up stitches. Love it!!

The Scrap Garter Stitch Baby Blanket/Lapghan. In the concept of Stashalong / Summer of Stash. I am using up my stash. All those odds & ends. I was gifted a garbage bag of yarn, there was lots of great yarn but also at the bottom was all these odds & ends that nobody seems to throw out!! What I have done is cast on 120 stitches and knit until that colour is finished. The yarn is in a opaque bag & I just dig in without looking & have to knit with the next colour I pull out. It makes the process interesting. I like a mindless knitting project like this for when I don't want to or cannot concentrate on a pattern.
