Gluten-Free On A Shoestring
Nicole Hunn
I borrowed this book from our Naturopath's office. I have been meaning to get it from the public library but never go around to doing it.
I like the recipes in Gluten-Free On A Shoestring as this is mainly the way we eat. I was not impressed with the author suggesting a gluten-free flour, only to find it NOT available in Canada. Also there was no alternative or a recipe to make your own. I decided to peruse her website Gluten-Free on a Shoestring & did find there are make your own flour recipes in the resources section. This book is looking more promising.
I made the 'Shepherd's Pie' pg 164 & it was definitely a hit in our house. 'It's the best Shepherd's Pie you have made' was the comment. I also made the 'Lemon Chicken, Chinese Style' pg 167. It was very good but it didn't look like Lemon Chicken to me. There are not many pictures in this book so you are not sure what the recipe is supposed to look like.
I want to make the Graham Crackers as I have a cheesecake to make for Thanksgiving and it as a graham cracker base. Cannot wait to try this.
